HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla - Two suspects are under arrest after two women were killed and another wounded in a shooting in the Citrus Park area of Hillsborough County on Sunday.
37-year-old Jason Burnett is accused of committing the murders.
He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder in the first degree, robbery home invasion and aggravated assault with intent to commit felony.
Burnett has also been named the prime suspect in two home invasions in Pasco County on Sunday. According to Sheriff Chris Nacco, Burnett entered a home on Tifton Lane. The sheriff said he walked to the bedroom of the home and demanded money, but only left with the victim's cell phone.
The sheriff said shortly after that Burnett forced his way into another home and demanded money and guns from the victim. According to a release, Burnett struck the victim on the head with a gun causing a laceration above his left eye and got away with some cash.
A second man, 47-year-old Gary Honish, is charged with accessory after the fact to home invasion robbery.
According to a sheriff's statement, Honish knew the victims and had been involved with previous narcotics transactions with the victims.
Burnett decided the three women would be a good target, believing there would be cash and drugs at the home.
Honish drove Burnett to the residence, who later returned to the vehicle and told Honish he had robbed the women, according to the statement.
PREVIOUS REPORT: The crime occurred before 1 p.m. at 7420 Manhattan Drive.
Fern Giddings, 56, and Nell Mason, 52, both of Tampa, were identified as the deceased.
The third surviving victim was identified Sunday night as Christina Soto, 35, of Tampa. She is currently listed in stable condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.
Mason would have celebrated her birthday Monday.
Friends of the victims said the women lived at the home along with two teenage boys.
HCSO Colonel Donna Lusczynski said one victim was found dead inside the home and two others were taken to an area hospital after the shooting just before 1 p.m. Sunday at 7420 Manhattan Drive.
One of the victims was found wounded after running down the street in an apparent attempt to get away from the shooter, according to HCSO spokesperson Debbie Carter.
One of the two victims taken to hospital was pronounced deceased.
The shooting occurred across the street from an HCSO district office, near the Westfield Citrus Park Mall.
Deputies do not believe this to be a random crime and do not believe there is a current threat to the community.
The women's friends, who declined to speak on camera, said the home was always quiet and there was never any trouble.
