HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - "Doc” the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office cattle dog has been found safe.

The unofficial mascot of the HCSO agricultural unit escaped from his special pen Saturday.

The person who found Doc contacted the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

The mixed breed dog is the personal dog of detective Lowell Cain, but is used for various work needs, including herding cattle off roadways and round-ups.

Around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Doc escaped from his pen which was being towed on northbound I-75 near the Fruitville exit in Sarasota County.

The individual who found Doc will meet for a reunion this afternoon.

Watch the reunion in the video player above.
