Hillsborough Community College gets ready for President Obama's campaign stop on Friday

TAMPA - President Obama will make a campaign stop at the Dale Mabry campus of Hillsborough Community College Friday afternoon.

HCC employees are working with campaign staff on final preparations.  It's expected to be a packed house and draw thousands of people to the school's gymnasium.

But HCC knows what it takes to hold such a large-scale occasion.  The school hosted President Bill Clinton in 1995.

Spokesperson for HCC, Ashley Carl said, "We knew how important security is and we also knew that the advanced team really manages the day-to-day operations of what will take place, so it's just really blending our services to compliment theirs."

First-year student Marcus Burney is a President Obama supporter, but couldn't get a ticket to see him.  "I was really excited because most students don't get a chance to experience the President.  They told us it was going to be on 14th Street and the line was around the corners and we still couldn't get any."

Gwen Vaughan's daughter chose to enroll at HCC today instead of tomorrow. Vaughan said, "It's going to be chaotic, so we need to change our schedule."

During this campaign stop, President Obama is expected to talk about issues like strengthening the economy and helping the middle class.

Doors open at 1 pm, but President Obama's campaign officials in Tampa say tickets are no longer available. They were distributed Tuesday at 5 pm and they were gone by 10 pm. President Obama will make a campaign stop at Hillsborough Community College's Dale Mabry campus tomorrow afternoon.
