Florida Highway Patrol: 1 killed in early morning I-75 crash at I-4

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - A Tampa man was struck and killed after coliding with a disabled vehicle on I-75 Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

It happened at approximately 4:17 a.m. on I-75 northbound and I-4.

Investigators say 32-year-old  Arimus Antwain Marshall Dixon of Tampa was traveling northbound on I-75 when he hit a disabled vehicle stopped on the east shoulder of the highway.  

Dixon's Jeep Wrangler overturned and slid into the center lane.  

Investigators say he got out of the vehicle and was standing next to it was he was struck by a Acura Intergra driven by 34-year-old Chrissy L. Rodriguez of Tampa.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rodriguez was taken to Florida Hospital with minor injuries.  Her passenger, Alvin T. Travis, 29, of Tampa, was uninjured.

The driver of the disabled vehicle, 21-year-old Robert C. Norman of Dade City, was also uninjured, troopers said.

FDOT cameras showed a back-up of vehicles in that area hours later, while that portion of the highway was shut down.

The roadway opened back up shortly before 8 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
