A fatal accident involving two vehicles backed up traffic on eastbound I-4, east of I-75 for three hours Tuesday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a tractor trailer driver had just finished changing a tire when it merged into traffic and was rear-ended by a minivan carrying paint supplies.

An occupant in the minivan died, and the vehicle erupted into flames.

All eastbound lanes were closed at mile marker 14 (near McIntosh Rd. exit) for a short time before the fire was put out and the Florida Highway Patrol allowed traffic to pass.
