TAMPA - A nice day for the folks at the Dalmatian Rescue They called it Dal-Loween because halloween is coming up.
But there were fewer costumes spotted here in what felt like a movie with 99, 100... or maybe more Dalmatians at the Lake Park in Lutz on what was a bright and beautiful Saturday...
Dogs from all over the Tampa Bay area were here -- including the Logan family "rescue in action" adoption pup Belle.
"She is known by everyone in the neighborhood," I told the dozens of fellow Dalmatian lovers at the annual gathering. "And," I continued, "she is the friendliest dog you could ever want, so thank you to the Dalmatian Rescue for helping make her a part of our family."
And since we were a part of this extended adoptive family, recently receiving a dalmatian family member, we were impressed at the story of the Halls who'd been Dalmatian Daddy and Momma for five dogs.
"...over a period of 38 years," clarified Marilyn Hall.
Unable to keep a dog these days, because of limited living space, she and her husband Bruce wanted to help -- in a tangible way.
"I want to present you this check in the amount of $25,000," said Marilyn, pulling an envelope from her waistband. Shrieks and applause rained down from the crowd as Marilyn and Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay founder Susan Weber hugged.
This, the largest single donation the Dalmatian Rescue has ever received is enough to help keep a lot of tails wagging...
