Child hit by car in Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - A girl was hit by a car in Hillsborough County shortly after getting off a school bus.
It happened on Jerry Smith Road near the intersection of April Lane just before 4 p.m.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department, 5-year-old Kalie Williams got off the school bus and attempted to cross Jerry Smith Road road when the car hit her.
Williams was flown to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition.
Initial reports indicated the she was awake and speaking when emergency crews arrived.
Hillsborough County deputies tell Action News the driver of the car stayed at the scene.
The investigation continues.
