SEFFNER, Fla. - Using dental records, authorities have positively identified the charred skeletal remains found in a burnt-out vehicle in eastern Hillsborough County. They belong to the car's owner, who had been missing since last weekend.
Deputies found the remains, now identified as Mango resident Gwendolyn Patricia Belcher, 39, on Sunday evening, after responding to a burned-out 2000 Nissan Maxima near Taylor and Pruett Roads in East Hillsborough County.
Belcher went missing after getting into a fight with her husband late Saturday.
Deputies learned that her husband, Christopher Belcher, had slapped her on Saturday night. He was charged with domestic violence, and remains behind bars on a $1 million bond.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
