LITHIA, Fla. - "I've been watching birds for 35 years, now," said Rich Crete (pronounced "Crate") as he proudly stands surrounded by everything avian in his eponymous "Backyard Bird" store in FishHawk Ranch .

The owner of the store with everything for the Bird-watcher, from seed to houses to kites and kids kits says that he's personally counted 71 different species in this region within the past few weeks.  And Rich is leading monthly trips into the natural areas to find and feature the flying animals so that others can enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds those of us who live in Hillsborough County .

"We go birding once a month -- from October through April every year," he said.  "I try and keep my ears open to find out where the bird activity is high and bring the group there.

For more information on the next tour (February 19) call (813) 657-2473.  Ask for Rich!
