SEFFNER, Fla. - Two individuals matching the description of the suspects that robbed and brutally beat a 71-year-old store clerk at the 92 convenience store in Seffner are in custody in Broward County.
James Newman, 29, and James Mislevick,19 were seen on surveillance tape beating the clerk after robbing the store at knife point.
The incident happened Sunday night at the US 92 Convenience Store located at 102 Highway 92 W and Kingsway Road in Seffner.
One suspect grabbed 71-year-old Hasimbhai Indawala by his shirt from across the counter. The second suspect, who held a knife, went around to the back of the counter where Indawala was standing.
Indawala opened the cash register and the second suspect grabbed the drawer from inside the register.
The first suspect also came around the counter, grabbed Indawala and threw him to the ground. He then hit Indawala several times in his head and stomach as he was on the ground.
The second suspect put the register drawer down, outside the view of the camera.
He came back to where Indawala was, kicked him in the head and struck him several more times.
He then grabbed several packs of cigarettes from the back counter.
Both suspects left the store and got into a dark colored four-door sedan and fled.
Indawala was initially transported to Brandon Regional Hospital, but due to the extent of his injuries, he was later transported to Tampa General for treatment.
He remains in the hospital, and may be released on Thursday.
