ST. PETERSBURG - Hillsborough Fire and Rescue is investigating a fire that destroyed an empty Gibsonton home that had been empty for the last two years.
The fire sparked about 3:00 a.m. o nthe 700 block of Nuny Avenue. The roof had already collapsed and the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Crews went into a defensive attack mode and once the scene was safe, they checked to see if anyone was inside.
There were no injuries reported.
No electricity had been running in the abandoned home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
