TAMPA - Waldemar and Juanda Alameda's dream is coming true.
As a special forces soldier in the Army, Waldemar served his country all over the world. But after being serioulsy injured by an IED explosion in Iraq, he can barely walk without assistance.
Today he and his wife watched as Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay started putting together their new home. The environmentally green house is being donated by NextGen and Sears as part of their Homes for Heroes program. It was showcased at the International Builders' Show in Orlando and shipped here in pieces.
Its not an extreme makeover, but its almost done in one day. After a little work inside and some wheelchair modifications for Waldemar, the Alamedas will be able to move in in March.
