LITHIA, Fla. - A 16-year-old driver is in the hospital after being ejected from a vehicle that flipped in a crash near the Fishhawk Youth Sports Complex in Lithia Sunday evening.
The teen was driving in an SUV with two male passengers, 16, and two female passengers, also 16, in the area of Fish Hawk Blvd and Bayberry Glen.
The driver was headed westbound on Fish Hawk Boulevard when he drifted into the east bound lane, then over corrected the vehicle, causing it to flip just before 9:15 p.m.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle. Fire Rescue took the driver to Tampa General Hospital in unknown condition.
The four passengers only suffered minor bruises and they were treated at the scene.
Fish Hawk Blvd. is currently closed in both directions. Drivers can cut through the Sports Complex to get around.
The accident remains under investigation.
