Convicted killer Trevor Dooley to be released pending appeal

TAMPA - Trevor Dooley, found guilty of manslaughter in November, 2012, after killing his neighbor, will be released from jail pending an appeal on the manslaughter charge.

Dooley was convicted in the 2010 death of his neighbor, David James.

James, 41, died after an altercation with Trevor Dooley at a park in Valrico in 2010. Dooley was upset about a teenage skateboarder riding on a basketball court. James and Dooley exchanged words, eventually leading to Dooley shooting his neighbor to death. James' eight-year old daughter Danielle watched it happen.

In addition to the manslaughter charge, Dooley was found guilty of improper exhibition of a firearm and openly carrying a firearm.

Appellate bonding must go through the Courthouse, which is closed for the weekend.  Dooley may be released as early as Monday.
