SEFFNER, Fla - A section of I-4 was shut down after a church van crashed into a barrier wall Monday morning.
An official from the Florida Highway Patrol says the bus driver, a volunteer at the First Baptist Church of College Hill in Tampa, suffered from a medical episode when the crash happened.
He was headed eastbound on I-4 near mile marker 13 when he hit the barrier wall. The bus then began to smoke and eventually caught fire.
Interstate 4 eastbound, between I-75 and Hwy 579 was closed was closed for a couple hours .
The driver of the bus, a volunteer with his church, was the only person on the bus. The pastor of the church says the driver isn't seriously injured, but will get checked out at the hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
