SEFFNER, Fla. - Karen Deas says she feels like she is living a nightmare.
"Why? It makes no sense," says Deas. "It makes no sense."
She's the mother of Joshua Deas, 24, whom she found dead on the floor of his mobile home in Seffner Sunday afternoon. She keeps asking the question why someone would want to hurt her son.
Deas says she went to pick her son up from work Sunday and was told by one of his co-workers he never showed up.
"I thought maybe he got hit on his bike on his way to work. I drove around on his route as I talked to my mom looking for him," says Deas.
She also found Kenneth Simmons, 34, Deas's roommate, on the floor. Simmons was also dead. Deas says there was blood everywhere.
Simmons' brother tells ABC Action News his brother knew Jiu Jitsu and was able to protect himself. He too wants to know what really happened.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says they are diligently working to get some answers from the clues they have gathered. All they will release at this time regarding the death investigation is both men died from "blunt trauma."
While investigators work to figure out what happened, Deas says all she and her family have left are the fond memories of her son.
"He would give you the shirt off his back, he would give you the last dollar out of his pocket," says Deas. "I've been reading his Facebook page today and everybody I have talked to says they can't believe it's happened to such a nice, good person."
