HCSO: 80-year-old man's body found at RV park in an apparent drowning

PLANT CITY, Fla. - The body of an 80-year-old man was discovered Saturday morning in a pond adjacent to the RV park where he lived.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a resident at the Tampa East RV Resort Park found Joseph Edgar Ross after he apparently drowned.

Around midnight, deputies were called out by a resident who told them they heard someone possibly yelling for help around 9:30 p.m. - and that about five minutes later it stopped.

Deputies initially conducted a search of the area, but nothing turned up.

Investigators say he may have wandered into the pond accidentally.
