Stranger donates billboard for kidney patient

LITHIA, Fla. - Devon Carver desperately needs a kidney, and a stranger has stepped in to help with a message for all the Tampa Bay area to see.

When Carver is not hooked up to a dialysis machine, she is going through her bills to figure out how her family can make ends meet.  And more importantly, how she can stay alive.

"I have not felt remotely healthy since I was 21." said Carver. "They don't think I have time to wait for a cadaver kidney, which could take six or seven years. Doctors think a live kidney is my best chance, but we've been praying and waiting for more than a year-and-a-half."

The loving wife and mother to a 12-year-old son, Devon needs a kidney.

The family has drained their savings and the college account for David is depleted.

Last year, the 34-year-old started a fundraising effort.  

"My plea is to let me live so I can at least watch my son graduate from high school, said Carver.

Completely depressed, and in more agonizing pain then ever, over Christmas they amputated three of her toes.

Devon received an unexpected gift.

A few weeks ago, a good Samaritan put up the money for several billboards.  It's a plea to save Devon's life.

"What more can I say than thank you, thank you. This is giving me a chance to get my plea and message out there. I just couldn't believe it when I heard. I thank him from the bottom of my heart," said Carver.

A wish, if granted, she promises to pay back.

"I have been trying to get awareness for organ donation out there. I think there needs to be more awareness. I hope there will be anyway when people see this story," said Carver.
