BRANDON - A skateboarder was taken to the hospital in serious condition Thursday morning after a driver hit him on a Brandon road, then drove off.
Officials tracked down the driver, and took him into custody.
The crash happened on Providence Road near Providence Ridge Boulevard, just before 12:20 a.m.
Deputies say a male victim was riding his skateboard on the side of Providence road when he was hit by a vehicle heading southbound. The driver fled and the victim was transported to the hospital.
