BRANDON, Fla. - A lightning strike is to blame for a house fire in Brandon on Friday morning.
According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, a man and his dogs were able to escape the home at 1720 Woodhaven Drive without injuries.
When HCFR arrived, a bedroom was full of smoke and flames.
According to a release, Michael Oggero, 20, was sleeping with the fire started.
"I was asleep in my room when the smoke alarm sounded and my dogs started to bark, " Oggero said.
Fire crews were able to quickly contain the fire. Oggero and his dogs were not injured.
Photos from the home show the fire caused extensive damage to a bed and the walls.
