TAMPA - Wild weather battered the bay area, flipping cars, ripping off roofs, uprooting trees, and damaging homes.
Hernando County emergency officials reported at least 14-20 structures have sustained damage as a result of the severe weather which passed through the county on Tuesday.
Specific problem areas include U.S. 41 near Spring Hill Drive, where falling trees pulled electrical wires down.
Also, the Jefferson St. / Estate Drive area in Brooksville has fallen trees and downed electrical wires. Trees and power lines are also down on Powell Road near Cedar Drive.
Approximately 85 Progress Energy customers are without power and Withlacoochee River Electric has reported 300-350 customers without power. Crews were responding to those outage areas.
