SPRING HILL, Fla. -

After nearly 12 hours of negotiating with an armed man barricaded inside a Spring Hill home, Hernando County SWAT team members got inside, and found the man had taken his own life.

Deputies responded to the incident at the Berkeley Manor subdivision early Monday morning and limited nearby evacuations were ordered for safety.

James Michael Soard, 40, was in the house with his mother.  She chose to remain inside as the standoff unfolded.

At one point, there was a report of shots fired, but it wasn't known if the gunfire was directed at anyone.

All traffic, including school buses, was redirected away from the subdivision almost all day.  A second route into Berkley Manor had to be established along the boulevard.
