SPRING HILL, Fla. - A one-year-old Spring Hill girl died after she fell into a swimming pool.
The drowning occurred late Friday afternoon a home on Belmont Road.
The family was preparing dinner around 4:30 p.m. when the parents discovered "it got too quiet." They began searching for the girl. The mother found her floating in the pool. The mother pulled the baby from the pool and performed CPR while the father called 911.
Hernando County Fire Rescue took the girl to Oak Hill Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Investigators believe a lanai door had been left open or was ajar. According to a sheriff's statement, the door "does secure tightly and could not otherwise have been manipulated by the baby."
The case remains open.
