HERNANDO COUNTY - Hernando County deputies say a 74-year-old man was attacked by a man three decades his junior. The victim's hip was fractured during the incident.
Justyn Newman, of 12236 Pine Bluff Street in Spring Hill, is now charged with assault/battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
Deputies say the 40-year-old engaged in an altercation with the victim at American Aviation on Broad Street Friday.
The victim told deputies the altercation took place in the hallway between the main offices and manufacturing floor, an arrest report states.
According to the victim, Newman approached him and that is when the victim's stomach rubbed up against Newman.
Newman then pushed the man to the ground with both hands, the arrest report states.
Deputies say the victim landed forcefully on the concrete floor hitting his right hip.
Doctors confirmed a right hip fracture and are now determining when to do surgery.
Deputies say when they questioned Newman he admitted the altercation took place but said he acted in self-defense.
Newman is slated to appear in court on October 23, 2013.
He's been released on $2,000 bond.
