BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Four people were transported by helicopter after a head-on crash in Brooksville early Wednesday.
The crash occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on State Road 50 near Highpoint Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Nathan Peltz, 85 and Diane Peltz, 83, of Spring Hill were traveling east in the westbound lane in their Buick Veranno when they slammed head-on into a Ford F-150 pickup truck occupied by Joseph Hooper, 33, of Brooksville and Christina Lynn Coffey, 30, of Clearwater.
For unknown reasons, a third passenger in the truck, a female, fled the scene on foot and is being sought.
All four victims were hospitalized as trauma alerts in critical condition.
Charges are pending.
