BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - The Hernando County Sheriff has issued an alert to drivers.
Since February 4, the Sheriff's Office has received three reports of men posing as law enforcement officers.
In two cases, the suspects initiated traffic stops, one in a parking lot.
According to the Sheriff, the suspects have requested identification and demanded vehicle searches.
The latest happened Monday night at the intersection of Waterfall Drive and Bern Lane in Spring Hill.
On Monday, the suspect was driving a white Crown Victoria with no police markings or decals, but it had a police style spotlight. The car also had a red flashing light on the roof.
The suspect was able to get the victim to perform a variety of field sobriety exercises.
He was described as a man in his 40s, with brown hair and a gray mustache.
