LECANTO, Fla - A Lecanto homeowner awoke to a burglar drinking soda and wearing only underwear, Citrus County deputies say.
Mikhail Zinger, 32, was arrested and is now facing petit theft, burglary and criminal mischief charges.
Citrus County deputies arrested Zinger around 6 a.m. on October 6.
A woman who lives in a home in the 1200 block of West Cardinal Street told deputies she was sleeping in her bedroom when she awoke to the sound of someone using the bathroom.
The woman, however, thought at first it was her grandson. But, she realized something was wrong when she noticed her grandson was asleep in her bed.
A few minutes later, the woman said Zinger was standing over her bed wearing only his underwear.
According to the woman, Zinger then walked into the kitchen. She says that is when she woke up her grandson and told him there was a man inside their home. Her grandson allegedly asked her if she was dreaming.
The grandson got out of bed, grabbed a knife, told his grandmother to pretend she was sleeping and went to confront Zinger, an arrest report states.
The grandson told deputies he asked Zinger who he was and what he was doing in the house. An arrest report states that Zinger responded that his name was Devin and a neighbor told him he could find Lonnie here.
The grandson says he ordered Zinger to leave and that Zinger put on a pair of shorts and walked out the front door.
Both grandmother and grandson advised they'd never seen Zinger before and that he did not have permission to enter their home.
Deputies found Zinger at the intersection of West Cardinal Street and West Lecanto Highway.
Zinger was positively identified as the man who broke into the home by both grandmother and grandson.
Deputies say when they returned to the home, they found the screen to the front door pulled out and torn from the screws. They also found that all the doors were locked.
Zinger's shirt, which he told authorities he left at the house, was found inside the residence, an arrest report states. It was reportedly found on a recliner.
Zinger reportedly told authorities he consumed the victim's Mountain Dew. Two cans of Mountain Dew and a two liter bottle of Mountain Dew were found on the kitchen counter, an arrest report states.
The suspect's shoes, which he says he left inside the home, were never found, deputies say.
Zinger is being held on $15,500 bond.
