The 2012 Republican National Convention is 35 days away. In anticipation of the big event, convention leaders gave the media a sneak peak inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
Inside, workers have been assembling the main stage and camera platforms. But organizers want to remind everyone that the convention is more than a party: it’s the democratic process of picking a candidate.
"It's a great group of people. It's an exciting project,” said Phil Alongi, Executive Producer of the convention. “But the most important thing to me is how I believe in this process, the political process and I believe the voters of America should have as much information as possible to make their decision.”
Although former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is the presumptive Republican nominee for this year's presidential race, there is still no hint as to who his running mate will be or when that announcement will be made.
