SARASOTA, Fla. - A 17-month-old baby shot by her mother before her mother turned the gun on herself has died, Sarasota police said Sunday.
Police say the child's father returned to his home in the 4000 block of Old Bradenton Road from a scooter ride around 9:45 a.m. Sunday and heard shots fired, then called 911. Detectives believe the woman, 35, shot her baby before she then turned the gun on herself. The woman was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.
Police earlier reported the baby was 10 months old, but later released her age as 17 months old.
Their identities have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
