SARASOTA, Fla. - Two suspects accused of burglarizing a vehicle in Sarasota were taken into custody following foot chases early Sunday, but one suspect remains at large.
According to Sarasota Police Ofc. Linda DeNiro, officers responded to the vehicle burglary at a home on Panama Drive in Sarasota at 12:18 a.m. after the homeowner attempted to confront three individuals in his vehicle.
As officers arrived, the suspects fled on foot, DeNiro said.
An unidentified juvenile was caught by officers as he ran from the home. He has yet to be charged in the burglary.
A second 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody in the 1900 block of Cocoanut Ave. after a search by K9 and aerial units.
According to DeNiro, the suspect was positively identified as a suspect in the burglary. A handgun allegedly belonging to the suspect was recovered, DeNiro said.
He has been charged with two counts of armed burglary, obstruction and violation of Probation.
The third person wanted in the vehicle burglary remains at large. A description of the suspect was not provided.
