DARBY, Pa. - A 43-year-old black male from Darby, Pennsylvania looks nothing like her, but bearing the “Casey Anthony” name has come with annoying, down right dangerous consequences.
The other Anthony, who shares his name with the 25-year-old Orlando woman found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, has found himself taking some of the brunt and public angst directed at the female Anthony, WPTV reports.
"After the verdict that day, it went crazy. It was like everybody wanted to know and wanted to comment on this Casey Anthony situation," the male Casey Anthony said.
He estimates that he’s received at least 300 Facebook friend requests, posts and messages intended for the female Anthony. “Who are you to take a child’s life?” one of the messages read.
Because his number was listed on his Facebook account, he was flooded with phone calls from Florida, and after the first few calls, he just stopped picking up.
He spends a lot of time filtering and deleting comments because he doesn’t want his family to see them. Two of his sons also bear the name Casey Anthony.
At first, he said he could have a laugh over the situation, but after all the threats and misdirected backlash,it’s not so funny.
"Every night on the news I hear my name..every day, all day. People I know, family members...It went from being comical and scary to just being outright, make you mad as..you know. 'Cause these people don't even know you, they don't have a clue."
