RUSSIA - CNN reports that Russian forces have raided a group with possible tangential links to Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Russian special forces reportedly killed two members of a Jihadist group during a Monday morning raid in Dagestan, Russia, police told CNN.
One of the people killed, Shakrudin Askhabov, was an associate of the Islamist group's leader, and had possible "tangential links to Tamerlan.
Tamerlan was shot dead during a gun battle with Watertown police days after the Boston Marathon bombings.
This information comes as key lawmakers believe that Tamerlan, 26, and his 19-year-old brother, Dzhokar, may not have acted alone in the bombings.
In 2011, Russian authorities secretly recorded phone calls between Tamerlan and his mother where they spoke about Jihad.
After those calls, Tamerlan spent six months in Russia. That's when officials believe he may have become radicalized.
