GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The mayor of Gainesville, Florida has been arrested and charged with DUI and property damage. The arrest was first reported by Gainesville ABC affiliate WCJB.

A report on the Alachua County Jail website states Lowe was booked into the jail at 6:27 a.m. Thursday. The circumstances surrounding Lowe's arrest are unknown at this time.

According to the city of Gainesville website, Lowe was elected as mayor in April 2010. Before serving as mayor, he was a member of the city commission.
