MESA, - If you’ve got at least $50,000 lying around, you can own a piece of American history.
A plane that once acted as Air Force Two, the vice president’s aircraft, is awaiting auction at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
The DC-9-32 aircraft, which also “may have acted as Air Force One,” will be posted for auction Wednesday by the General Services Administration. The bidding will start at $50,000.
Whenever the president is aboard a military aircraft, it is always referred to as Air Force One.
The plane, tail number N681AL, reportedly served multiple vice presidents, including Nelson Rockefeller, George H. W. Bush and Al Gore.
