NEW YORK, N.Y. - Before Ann Curry got the boot as NBC’s Today show co- anchor, the network made it clear that they didn’t like her hair, shoes or clothing choices, RadarOnline reports ( http://bit.ly/MrfHqH ).

In an interview with Ladies Home Journal, Curry opened up about her experience as an anchor, and said her bosses wanted her to wear “ridiculously high heels”.

When she wore flat, comfortable shoes in the studio, Curry said it didn’t go over well. When she wore a colorful dress on air, she was compared to cereal mascot Toucan Sam.

Her hair was also an issue, because she allowed it to remain gray. But Curry, 55,  refused to hide her silver hairs behind coloring.

"I’ve got gray hair because I won’t dye it: I want to be about to honor my family by looking exactly as they did as they got older … I think showing some grey is authentic ... true beauty is a face you have lived in,” she said.

Just after one year in the position, Curry was relieved from her co-anchoring duties, shortly after NBC lost their 16-year- ratings lead over its rival show, Good Morning America.

Curry received a $10 million severance package and has since accepted a position with NBC as a news correspondent.
