TAMPA - The Tampa Police Department is asking for help in finding a missing 30-year-old Riverview man who walked out of a mental health facility without authorization.

Authorities say John Matthew Rathel was taken to the Mental Health Center on East Henry Street by Hillsborough County deputies, but left the facility without authorization.

Officers say Rathel has a history of mental illness, but is not considered to be hostile.

His has a thin build with shaggy brown hair and was last seen wearing a plaid blue shirt and blue jeans. Authorities note while the photo of Rathel is the most recent one they have of him, he is currently clean-shaven.

If anyone has information on Rathel's whereabouts, you are requested to call the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.
