ST. PETERSBURG - The eyeball that gained national attention after washing ashore on Pompano Beach is now being kept at the Fish and Wildlife research institute's headquarters in St. Petersburg,

FWC officials say the eyeball arrived Tuesday. The FWC believes the eyeball is from a swordfish.  But genetic testing will be done on the eyeball to confirm the findings.

It could be a few weeks until genetic testing is complete.  The eyeball was found washed ashore on Pompano Beach on October 10.
