TAMPA BAY - The bay area can expect to see chilling temps this weekend. According to Action Weather meteorologist, Wayne Shattuck, Citrus, Hernando, Sumter and Pasco counties are all under a freeze warning for Saturday night.
The rest of the Tampa bay area is under a wind chill advisory, meaning that a gusty wind could make the temperature feel as cold as 20 to 30 degrees.
With the cold temperatures come health risks and precautions citizens should take. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) suggest the following safety tips for a cold snap:
1.) Stay inside and use heating sources
2.) Keep heating sources such as space heaters away from flammable items.
3.) Wear multiple layers of clothing including hats and gloves when going outside.
Plants and pets should also be kept in indoors if possible.
