Estranged Husband charged in Gulfport double homicide

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- The Pinellas County Sheriff's office say that they have charged Patrick Evans of St. Petersburg, the estranged husband of Elizabeth Evans, with 2 counts of first degree murder.

The victims are Elizabeth Evans of Gulfport and Gerald Bruce Taylor of Tampa.

Detectives say that Elizabeth and Patrick Evans had been estranged for about eight months. Gerlad Taylor and Elizabeth Evans had been just recently dating.

Last night, several emergency units were sent to the 6000 block of Gulfport Boulevard at the Sun Ketch Condos after a 9-1-1 hang-up call.  

Deputies say that they found Elizabeth Evans dead in her condo and Gerald Taylor shot.  Taylor was transported to a local hospital, were he died. Both victims had been shot in the upper body area, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's office.
