TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Wednesday, August 1.

(1) St. Petersburg domestic partnership

The City of St. Petersburg will begin offering domestic partnerships on Wednesday.

Starting today, adults who are in a domestic partnership relationship can register with the Office of the City Clerk.

Registrations will be offered from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. today. Thereafter, registrations can be made Mondays to Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City Clerk expects heavy demand early on it the registration process and recommends people seeking to register a partnership to call (727) 893-7448 for an appointment.

To receive a Domestic Partnership Certificate, both persons must be present at the time of initial registration to process a Domestic Partnership Registration Affidavit, a legal document that will be notarized by City Clerk's Office staff.

A drivers license, state issued ID, passport or military ID is required for each party.

Registrations will cost $30 payable in cash, check or money order to the City of St. Petersburg. Both people will then receive a copy of the registration affidavit, two wallet cards and a formal certificate.

If the registration needs to be amended in the future (change of address, name change) the cost to amend the registration is $10. The cost of terminating the registration is $15.

(2) Free dental exams for children

The Pinellas County Health Department is offering free back-to-school dental exams and X-rays for children and teens on Wednesday.

Today's free clinics for students age 4 to 18 occur at the St. Petersburg Health Center at 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North in St. Petersburg and the Mid-County Health Center at 8751 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Dental exams, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride, fillings and extractions will be offered at no charge for children and teens who are new patients.

Parents or guardians must accompany the child receiving care. No appointments are necessary.

School immunizations are also being offered to students 18 and younger without an appointment, and at no charge, at all health centers.

(3) Free haircuts at JCPenney

JCPenney stores throughout Florida and across the country will be offering free haircuts for children in August beginning on Wednesday.

The offer is good for any students in kindergarten and grades 1 to 6.

Customers can call (855) JCP-KIDS or stop by their local JCPenney salon to schedule a free appointment while they last.

Over 160,000 free haircut appointments have already been scheduled.

Today, the company will donate $1 for every free haircut given out to the Boys & Girls Clubs of American and 4-H, up to $50,000.

(4) Mayor's Food Truck Fiesta

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn's Food Truck Fiesta returns to Lykes Gaslight Square Park in downtown Tampa on Wednesday.

People will be able to choose meals from ten different food trucks from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

"Every month we've been able to add new food trucks and satisfy every taste imaginable," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "The fact that we've been able to do that is a testament to how vibrant food trucks are in our community and how people want to come into downtown."

This month features three new food trucks: Lunch Lady, Just Smoking BBQ, Taste of Chicago.

The seven returning trucks are: Keepin It Reel, Maggie on the Move, NYO Food Truck, Oki Doki, Michelle Faedo, Burger Culture, Gone Bananas.

The Food Truck Fiesta is held the first Wednesday of every month. For more information, visit www.tampagov.net/foodtruck .

(5) Disney's Beauty and the Beast

The smash hit Broadway musical Disney's Beauty and the Beast arrives at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Wednesday.

The musical is based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning film of the same name.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast has played to over 35 million people worldwide.

There will be seven performances of Disney's Beauty and the Beast over the next five days:

  • Wednesday, August 1 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 2 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, August 3 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 4 - 2:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 4 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 5 - 1:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 5 - 7:00 p.m.
