TAMPA BAY, Fla. - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Thursday, January 12.
(1) Cat 5 dome inflation
ABC Domes in Lakeland will inflate a Category 5-resistant dome on Thursday.

The Smart Dome Vault is being constructed for a information management company to be a high security, high safety, humidity-controlled storage vault.
The dome will be one of the few structures in the State of Florida built to withstand Category 5 hurricane force winds which blow in excess of 155 miles per hour.
The inflation process is scheduled to begin after 7:00 a.m. It should take about one hour to completely inflate the dome.
Drivers traveling on I-4 will be able to see the dome on the north side of the interstate.

(2) Tampa International Airport renovation
The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority will meet on Tuesday to discussion a proposed $27.6 million renovation to Tampa International Airport.
The money would be spent to upgrade the airport's Airside F to better handle increased international services.
If the Aviation Authority board approves the project, design would begin in March with construction scheduled to be completed by September 2013.
A $1 billion project with a new North Terminal for international flights had been planned for 2015 but the economic downturn postponed that until at least 2023.
The board meeting begins today at 9:00 a.m.

(3) Humane Society of Tampa Bay donation
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) will be the recipient of a big donation on Thursday
The Laser Spine Institute will officially present the HSTB with a $4,000 check donation today. The HSTB received the most votes in the Institute's Facebook Choose Your Charity Campaign.
The Laser Spine Institute decided to donate a total of $7,000 to six different organizations that participated in their 2011 holiday campaign. During the month of December Facebook users could vote which charity they wanted the organization to grant the largest financial gift to.
"We could not be more excited to have the opportunity to contribute to six different charities this holiday season," said Bill Horne, CEO of Laser Spine Institute. "Each of these charities has a significant impact on our local communities and all are important to the Laser Spine Institute employees and supporters."
In addition to the donation to the HSTB, the Laser Spine Institute is donating $1,000 to The Spine Foundation; $800 to Alex's Lemonade Stand; $600 to Feeding America; $400 to Operation Homefront and $200 to Esping Family Foundation.
(4) 2012 Google Science Fair
Florida middle and high school students with an interest in science across should take note Thursday begins the 2012 Google Science Fair.
Students ages 13 to 18 are invited to submit their projects and ideas online beginning today through April 1.
You do not need to be a A-student to participate, just someone who likes to ask questions.
The competition offers young scientists anywhere to test novel ideas that could change the world. Because submissions are accepted online, all you need to participate from anywhere are curiosity and an internet connection.
Prizes include once-in-a-lifetime experiences like a scientific trip to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic Explorer, unique scholarships and opportunities to work in iconic science centers like CERN in Switzerland.
There will be 90 regional finalists who each receive a Google Chromebook. Fifteen finalists will be flown to Mountain View, California for a chance to compete to become a finalist winner in their age category.
Last year, Shree Bose of Fort Worth, Texas, won first place for her research on ovarian cancer. Her project was one of 7,500 projects submitted by more than 10,000 students in 90 countries worldwide.

(5) Tampa Bay's Most Photogenic Baby
Attention parents of cute babies and toddlers. Starting Thursday you can enter your child to win Tampa Bay's Most Photogenic Baby of 2012.
The annual event raises at least $10,000 a year for All Children's Hospital.
Infants through 5-year-olds are eligible to compete. For the $35 entry fee, parents get a professional photo shoot with a fashion photographer.
Photos of all the contestants will be displayed at University Mall on February 17 and 18 for judging and voting. Parents get to keep the 8"x10" photos when the contest is over.
Photo shoots will take place at University Mall today through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
There are four categories for children to compete in:
- Beautiful: Judging is based on a close-up shot with somewhat serious looks preferred.
- Comical: Judging is based on funny and goofy expressions or body languages.
- Fashionable: Judging is based on a full-body or half-body
