TAMPA - Here are five things you need to know happening in Florida on Thursday, August 29.
(1) Fast food workers strike
Tampa fast food workers are scheduled to protest on Thursday over what they claim are unlivable wages.
The West Central Florida Federation of Labor wants workers to join them for an informational picket and rally starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Wendy's at 1507 East Fowler Avenue.
The labor organization says workers deserve to be paid a living wage of $15 an hour and should have the right to organize without retaliation.
Currently, the median pay for fast food workers across the country is just over $9 an hour.
The rally will see workers travel between five local fast food restaurants.
Similar rallies are occurring today in Boston, Chicago, Denver, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, New York, Oakland and Raleigh.
(2) Lightning part-time job fair
