YBOR CITY, Fla. - Guavaween 2013 is this weekend, Saturday, October 26th, and here's what you need to know before you go.
The festivities in Ybor City begin at 11 a.m. with the Little Monsters Promenade and Pumpkin Patch. Kids can dress up, choose a free pumpkin to decorate in Centro Ybor Courtyard, and go trick-or-treating door to door at the various Centro Ybor merchants from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
From 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., it's the first annual Bed Bash where teams will drag race wheeled beds through the streets of Ybor City.
The festivities all culminate with the 28th annual Guavaween Costume Contest. The original Mama Guava will host the contest. Live music starts at 7 p.m. with the featured band "Scilter" from 7-8:45 p.m. The costume contest starts at 9 p.m. in Centro Ybor, 1600 E. 8th Ave.
This year's theme is "Classic Movie Monsters," celebrating classic horror film monsters.
There's no parade this year, but Guavaween goers can shuffle down to the District and stop by the event's sponsored partners to try and enter the Guavaween Costume Contest. Contestants will be selected at the event's promotional partners: J.J.'s Cafe & Bar, Crowbar, Hamburger Mary's, Buffalo Wild Wings or James Joyce Irish Pub, where wristbands to enter the costume will be given out.
The top prize is $1,000 for best costume. Other categories for prizes are:

-Best Political Satire
Admission to the outdoor concert and costume contest are FREE.
