LUTZ, Fla. - A Lutz man is in the hospital after being shot by his father during an argument after the USF football game Saturday night, Hillsborough County deputies said Sunday.
Eric Harris, 26, was intoxicated and got into an argument with his girlfriend just after 11 p.m. at a home on San Rio Circle Saturday, deputies said.
Harris' father, Henry Harris, 61, was walking his four dogs when the argument got heated and soon turned into an argument between Harris and his father.
Henry Harris told detectives his son attacked him from behind, put him in a choke hold and he couldn't breathe. He started to lose consciousness but managed to break free, and when his son came at him again, that's when he told detectives he pulled out his handgun and shot Eric Harris once in the chest.
Eric Harris was transported to the hospital for treatment. No arrests were made but deputies are investigating. The case will be turned over to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office who will determine if criminal charges will be filed.
