TAMPA BAY, Fla. - Parents and students headed back to school will have the opportunity to knock a huge dent in their shopping list with the approaching Sales Tax Holiday.

From Friday, August 12 at 12:01 a.m. until Sunday, August 14 at 11:59 p.m., purchases made from merchants across Florida selling clothes, footwear, certain accessories or school supplies will be tax-free!

School items like, pencils, notebooks and clothing like blouses, pants and other wearing apparel qualify.

However, roller blades, handkerchiefs and sporting equipment are not covered.

The exemption doesn’t apply for clothes valued at more than $75 and school supply items valued at more than $15. Books are not exempt during the 2011 Sales Tax Holiday.
