TAMPA, Fla. - More than 600 veterans are expected to compete in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Tampa this week. It's only the second time the games have been held in Florida in its 33 year history.
The athletes include former servicemen and women from across the U.S., Great Britain and Puerto Rico.
The games are the largest annual multi-sport wheelchair event in the world.
Events kick off Saturday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum with a wheelchair basketball exhibition game and continue with 18 medal events that run through July 18th. For more information, head to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website: http://www.va.gov/opa/speceven/wcg/index.asp
