A nonprofit research group says recycling will not only help the environment but also put millions of Americans back to work.

According to a report by Tellus Institute, if the U.S. recycling rate increased rate from 33% to 75% by 2030, it would bring an additional 1.5 million jobs.

The report points out that recycling involves more work than trash disposal, which means more jobs would be needed.

Workers would be needed for collecting, processing, and composting trash and for making new products with recycled materials.
