TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - State lawmakers are proposing another back-to-school tax holiday. The legislation eliminates state and local sales taxes on items including clothes, shoes and school supplies.
This year’s version of the bill also eliminates sales taxes on some electronics, including laptops and tablet computers. The computers must be bought for personal use.
Some accessories are also eligible, including keyboards, monitors and modems.
This year’s sales tax holiday will run from August 2 through 4. It's estimated the temporary removal of sales taxes will save shoppers about $30 million.
