The City of Tampa has received an $11 million grant to complete the remaining portion of the Riverwalk from south of Kennedy Boulevard up to Tampa Heights. There are also efforts to build a fourth museum at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park along the Hillsborough.
That news comes as business people and commercial real estate professionals are renewing their effort on creating a downtown renaissance that attracts new jobs, new residents and other economic development.
A regional partnership led by the University of South Florida was awarded $1 million by the U.S. Commerce Department to support new Web and mobile app ventures.
The project, one of six i6 Challenge grants awarded nationally this year, is designed to launch new companies and create hundreds of high-wage jobs in the greater Tampa Bay region.
Companies are evolving their social media guidelines for employees. Many businesses encourage employees to use Facebook and Twitter at work, if it promotes the good word of the company.
