This is the tenth years for St. Pete Pride's Pride Carnivale parade. Last year more than 100,000 people attended the event.
New St. Pete Pride Executive Director Eric Skains believes the event can become even bigger by embedding itself into the community through seminars, workshops and donations to local non-profits.
With more people believing in equality for the LGBT community, the event is also becoming an opportunity for St. Petersburg businesses looking to expand their clientele.

Ron Alicandro, general manager of the 255-room Westin Tampa Bay, said he personally responds to every review posted on TripAdvisor, no matter if the review is positive or negative.
It turns out service is the aspect of a hotel experience most discussed on the internet. By making a customer feel like they are personally important to a hotel, that hotel may gain a loyal customer -- something important when price is often the deciding factor in choosing a hotel.
Are you ready to run? Hundreds of people across Tampa Bay are flocking to the new trend of running clubs.
It turns out they're also becoming big business.
About 100 people took part in a 5 kilometer run earlier this month in Tampa's Hyde Park. About half of them stayed around at Irish 31 afterward.
The pub offers specials, including a free buffet and drink specials, to participants in its running club. Irish 31 is not alone. Running clubs have also formed around Beef 'O' Brady's and the Green Iguana.
